Knowledgebase
The Knowledgebase can be found here http://theknowledge.aodl.org.uk/. The project is still in a pre-release form and looks to go live in January 2011.
The Knowledgebase is designed to address the specific needs of cultural organisations and their digital strategies.
The Knowledge base will comprise of two component, an updated wiki keeping up to date development and a set of clear learning guides.
a. Digital Health Check
In the research and development stages of the AoDL Digital Salon and Surgeries we profiled all the London RFOs, gathering together a spec list of sector standards and supplying a snapshot of their current online presence. In the Knowledgebase we aim to provide a detailed guide as to how RFOs can accurately assess their web presence, helping them to set the aims and objectives of their digital strategy and enabling them to track the impact of changes made and measure levels of success.
For all of the Digital Health Check items we offer low cost solutions and link and suggestions of preferred partners offering professional fee paying options.
The Health Check will contain the following list of things to consider:
- Accessibility
- Domain names
- RSS (Rich Site Summary) Feeds
- SEO and Metadata description field
- Email list – discussion and promotion
- CMS (Content Management System) use
- Google Analytics and other services
- Ecommerce
- UGC (User Generated Content) or feedback
- Sitemap protocol
- Social networking – Twitter and Facebook
- ePublishing (for publishers)
- CRM (Customer Relationship Management)
b. Headline issues
The Knowledgebase will act as a site for the compilation and synthesis of information and experiences gathered during the AoDL workshop series. Using the topics from the events seems to be the most straightforward way to order the information within the Knowledgebase and it will already be familiar to those who attended the series.
